What You'll Do: Edward Jones is looking for a Legal Clerk to join our team! As a Legal Clerk, you will support the intake, triage, and assignment of matters across multiple workstreams, including third party document requests/subpoenas, regulatory requests, arbitration/litigation matters, garnishments, levies, and court orders. This role requires extensive collaboration with others and computer usage such as typing, review of legal documents and financial records, and web-based navigation, while assuring the timely and accurate entry of pertinent legal information within a case management system.Here are a few of the key responsibilities you will be a part of:
  • Researching information on internal systems and/or calling external parties, including lawyers or courts, to gather accurate information for a case management system.
  • Intake, analysis, and processing of legal documents received from a variety of sources including process servers, mail, internal systems, and facsimile. Processing may include scanning documents, calendaring, and assigning matters to others in the Legal Division.
  • Processing and completing data entry into a case management system, including opening and closing electronic files and entering and maintaining legal records such as petitions, regulatory requests, subpoenas, garnishments, levies and court orders.
  • Sending correspondence, documents, and invoices to third parties as directed by procedures, colleagues or attorneys.
  • Tracking and assisting on the reporting of department data such as volume, trends, expenses, etc.
  • Handling multiple, competing priorities in an effective manner.
  • Discerning priorities and proactively managing timelines to elevate attorneys' and paralegals' work.
  • Utilizing sound judgment to determine urgency of situations and implement the appropriate escalation process.
  • Creating and/or updating spreadsheets and correspondence templates. Creating, updating, and maintaining reports requiring compilation of data from different sources and systems.
  • Managing very confidential information on an ongoing basis.
  • Researching highly confidential information in processing documents and creating reports while working within document retention schedules.
What Experience You'll Need:
  • 3 years of legal support experience (experience in Litigation area is preferred), including:
    • Strong communication skills to facilitate relationships with paralegals and internal and external attorneys.
    • Strong ability to set goals, multi-task and prioritize workload in an autonomous, results-oriented environment.
    • Level of proficiency in investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Professional, various web-based applications, and/or other document management programs.
What Could Set You Apart:
  • Bachelor's degree, Associate's degree, or paralegal certificate
  • Previous experience with data entry and/or electronic records management
  • Previous experience with legal calendaring and triage of legal matters
***Candidates that live within in a commutable distance from our Tempe, AZ and St. Louis, MO home office locations are expected to work in the office three days per week, with preference for Tuesday through Thursday***
